American Legion Post - ~1925 - looking up Tenny Hill
Duffy-Wescott Post 85 of the American Legion is housed in the Bluehill Academy building (built 1833). Its structural and aesthetic maintenance has changed over the years and the building needs serious attention. See Post Building Rebuild for more information, photos and videos.
We have started some basic stuff and have:
1. raised funds to complete a Survey to identify the most pressing and future efforts for preserving the Historic Building;
2. corrected drainage issue which damaged the back foundation wall and regularly flooded the basement;
3. dug a much needed well - our first EVER (2016)!
4. New roof (2020)
5. almost completed exterior brick and portico work and replaced all of the windows;
6. replaced the side door and added a new ramp and stairs (to be modified when construction is done); and
7. almost done gutting the interior as finished the back wall and foundation reconstruction.
NEXT efforts:
1. finish the Portico (need to correct some bad contractor work)
2. finish windows (framing, etc.)
3. complete exterior painting and wood work
4. and turn to the interior structural efforts and reconstruction.

c. insulation
d. electrical
e. plumbing
f. drywall
g. floors
h. heating/cooling (heat pumps)
i. misc .work to include bathroom, kitchen, landscaping, etc.
Not to be forgotten is another dumpster of debris.
Some of this work will be concurrent.
