Point of Information
Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with holidays in several countries, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which also occur on the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May: Veterans Day commemorates the service of all U.S. veterans, while the older Memorial Day, which grew out of Civil War commemorations, specifically honors those who have died while in military service. Another military holiday that also occurs in May, Armed Forces Day, honors those currently serving in the U.S. military.
Additionally, Women Veterans Day is recognized by a growing number of U.S. states that specifically honor women who have served in the U.S. military.

Building Renovation

See Post Building Rebuild

The building repair, rework and restoration to preserve & update our 190 year-old (1833) building for Blue Hill and our legacy is underway, with foundation, brick and interior work ongoing.
Many thanks to those contributors helping to help make this possible.
We receive no funding from the American Legion, the State, or any building restoration/preservation source.
     Additional
funding is needed to complete this project, a Post 85 initiated effort necessitating the sale of "Legion Beach" just to begin. Cost will be over $750,000 when complete!
Estimated completion - TBD due in part to impacts of Tariffs on the Financial Market & material costs.
We need your help to get there!
Work will continue....
