The Blue Hill Academy & building's general timeline -
1802: Petition for the incorporation of the Blue Hill Academy
1803: a. Wood structure for the Academy was built in the spring - same location as the current building
b. Academy started classes in the fall
1833: a. Building was sold and moved
b. Current brick structure was built (note that dates for building in photos are incorrect).
c. Classes continued until 1898
1898: a. George Stevens Academy was incorporated and classes began there.
b. Blue Hill Academy building was not used and was "vacant" until new work was started on the structure
1909: Updated 1833 building was completed and building used by classes of the Village School
1944: Building sold by Blue Hill Academy Trustees to Duffy-Wescott Post 84, American Legion
2015: First well for water drilled for the building
2020: Duffy-Wescott Post sold land to support major work needed for the rebuild/preservation of the building
